X Factor hopeful Stacey Solomon

This is is X Factor hopeful Stacey Solomon who has taken her first steps on the road to stardom.Stacey, 19, impressed all four star judges at the first audition as she sang her heart out with the Louis Armstrong hit What a Wonderful World.Simon Cowell told her: "I am rarely surprised but that took me by surprise. You are really good."

The single mum from Dagenham, Essex is one of the hot favourites to win this year's competition.And she's no stranger to performing in front of big crowds. The confident teenager has starred in a show at a West End theatre and on a dream trip to America.

Along with fellow students on the performing arts course at Havering College in Essex, she sang Keep the Home Fires Burning in their production of Oh! What a Lovely War at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane. The students then crossed the Atlantic to perform at Stuart's Opera House in Ohio.Her tutor Peter Dayson said: "This is fantastically exciting for the college. Stacey is a hardworking, thoroughly professional, diligent student who is a pleasure to teach.
